Blog entry submitted by Tom Baldrige, CCV Pool & Spa Manager May is finally upon us and most of us "Outer Banker"'s are patiently awaiting the sun and the increasing temperature from frozen to cold to warmth to heat, the spas are opening and the pools are awaiting attention. With each day that gets warmer or sometimes colder, we still get one day closer to families filling our cottages with the new memories that will fill their minds for years to come.

As we fill each hot tub and inspect for any damage incurred from the long and enduring winter, we can only envision the amount of joy that this equipment will bring to many families over the next summer months. And that can only bring a smile to each of our "h2o chemistry" (water chemistry) technician's face. The joys that will be accrued over the next few months in these bodies of water from the "first timer" learning to swim, for some of our youngest customers, to the most experienced swimmers just enjoying themselves, these will be the days that they have been awaiting all year to enjoy and will be the reason your pool and spa operator will have a constant smile on their face even while faced with dealing with countless questions about the exact ph of their pool and if we have any job openings because "we have it made, living at the beach and cleaning pools". FYI: So that you know, we have no job openings as of late, but I can let you know when I do if you are interested. So quit submitting your application, Mr. Kavanaugh!!

Each year I meet more and more families that come to the 'banks for the first time and I love hearing their stories of why they will be coming back for years to come. From "the location of the house" to "the location of the T.V." in their room, to the "location of their in-laws, down the street", I think that I have heard most of the good arguments of why they choose the OBX and that is why I love to work with these people. I often wonder of where I might vacation that I may find the same kind of, and level of, friends that I often seem to meet here on the 'Banks and I may have to say that I might just have to continue vacationing here instead of the other "tourist destinations" that others say are necessary. So I guess instead of wondering I will just go back to living my life which is "just another day in paradise" and continue on with my "dream job" (which it is) as many have put it, by making our guest's vacation to become a "vacation well deserved" and well endured, like any vacation should be, which is the nature of vacation, to purify the soul.
